Submerging a Light into the Ocean is part of an ongoing investigation into light and water.

The project originates from a vision experienced years ago during a nighttime navigation through Patagonia: an immense sphere of light illuminating the depths of a dark fjord.

That image remained hidden in a more or less unconscious way, and only a year ago — through the process of bringing light into the interior of my own mind — did it clearly resurface.

From this point, the project developed along two parallel paths: the practical dimension focused on reformulating and visually reinterpreting the image that appeared in Patagonia; the theoretical dimension sought to connect the original vision with a constellation of ideas that nourish and expand the work.

More specifically, within the practical experimentation, a line of light was submerged into the sea, then filmed and studied, paying attention to its reflections, flashes, and the emotional responses they evoke.
Within the theoretical reflection, the research gradually articulated itself around notions of accelerated time, contemplation, inner light, and self-knowledge.

The result of the project is an immersive installation composed of a dual-channel video, a text projection, and sound.
The video was created during the actions of submerging the light into the sea, while the text and audio refer to a case of somniloquy — speaking during sleep.

Together, these three elements seek to create an environment in which the viewer may slow down and reconnect with themselves.
